3 reasons why coaches are sometimes unsuccessful

In all the years I have been working with coaches, I have been able to see what can be the reason for not being successful with their practice.

Here are the 3 reasons:

1. Too little self-esteem.

I see that many coaches make themselves small, are insecure and feel that there are already so many coaches. They wonder what he/she has to offer then. There are always better coaches than them, so they can stop.

Not daring to stand up and make themselves visible; imagine sticking your head above the ground and getting hit. The fear of criticism is great and they are afraid of their own inability to stand.

2. Quick to throw in the towel

Because the purpose and mission is not clear.

Somewhere they know what they want, but it hasn’t been made very concrete yet.

Because they have no focus and no concrete goal, a setback is quickly what turns the desire on its head.

The lack of perseverance (perhaps because the plan is not clear) means they are lived and everyday activities often take up all the space.

The desire can be so great that they don’t know where to begin. So they leave it at that and take for granted the breadcrumbs that come their way.

  • Every time I take another step, that I put myself outside the boundary of my comfort zone for a while, I grow tremendously.

3. The lack of a good coach.

It may be cliché, yet I see that it is true. Every coach can use a coach themselves, someone who is steps ahead of them, who can take you by the hand and help you achieve your goals.

I see many coaches cutting back on this. They do not invest in themselves. They believe their own beliefs and cannot see beyond their own filters. They see no ways how they can do it then.

The result is that many coaches fail to flourish even though they have tremendous potential. They do not believe they can let go of their jobs, which is often their greatest desire; to be able to fully live their passion: and that is to help people flourish more as well.

But you know as a coach that you first have steps to take yourself before they clients feel you can really do something for them. And yes, taking those steps is sometimes terrifying.

Every time I take another step, that I put myself outside the boundary of my comfort zone for a while, I grow again tremendously, that’s why I dare to take them anyway. Often with the help of a coach, so I don’t waste time with all kinds of detours or insufficient expertise.

Are you going for your highest potential?
