During difficult periods, you see people dealing with the uncertainty and anxiety that can arise in many different ways. What steps can you take to leave your insecurity behind and thereby overcome your anxiety?
Some love to be at peace, others have to work hard in caring for others, some shoot into anxiety and fear and others care little.
You probably know that how you react to situations has to do with your beliefs. Your beliefs cause you to have built in filters that make you see one thing as true and another as false.
This sometimes leads to heated discussions between people with differing opinions. Both think they are right, and they often cannot be persuaded to change their minds.
Overcoming fear is often about beliefs
The stronger the beliefs are, the less easily one is open to other points of view. These then are or become limiting beliefs that hold you back in your life. These limiting beliefs sometimes develop early in our lives.
Fear greatly affects how we react to situations. When people are anxious they can think less logically and are less open to other possibilities and can think of less creative solutions to a problem.
To really think well and find the best possible solutions, it is necessary for people to be able to stay close to themselves. To be able to stay in their center, to be grounded.
Detachment from outcomes is an important condition for experiencing little to no anxiety.
Okay, that’s great… but how do you do that? For example, how do you make sure that a crisis or something that happens in your environment doesn’t grab you by the throat?
This requires a number of important steps:
1. Examining your beliefs.
Getting to know your thoughts and beliefs is a prerequisite for having a freer life with less fear. Becoming aware of this is the first step. Next, you can ask yourself if your belief is true. Perhaps there are more possible viewpoints? Writing can help with this. But working with SoulCollage® can also provide many insights into your limiting beliefs.
2. Being out of your head.
Much of the day we think all kinds of things. That head is almost never still. Doing that which causes you to get out of your head helps with letting go of thoughts and realizing that you are more than your thoughts.
You can then get closer to the core of who you really are. In this state of being, you can let everything be as it is. You are in the here and now. For example, you can do this through meditation, gardening or doing something creative.
People often report reaching this state when they make SoulCollage® cards.
3. Overcoming fear by facing it.
What are you afraid of and why? Are you afraid of death?
Death is something we are certain will happen in our lifetime. Preparing well for death and letting go of your fears allows you to live life to the fullest. Only then. All fears make you limit yourself.
Of course, there are also fears that are important to the deceased. When a predator approaches you, it may be convenient to flee. These are survival fears.
You also developed survival fears in childhood, which were necessary to deal with certain situations. But those fears affect you to this day, if you haven’t already transformed them.
4. feel what you feel.
You may always feel what you feel because that is what is there in that moment. There is often judgment on feelings. We find all kinds of things. We may have learned to be strong and not adjust.
It helps little because feelings that are suppressed will come out sooner or later, but then usually not as controlled.
Lovingly embracing your feelings helps you balance yourself and not deny certain parts. The more you are allowed to be and feel as you are, the more you can let go of fears.
Note that there is a difference between feeling and thinking.
5. using the other as a mirror.
Do you irritate, anger or dislike another person’s behavior? Chances are these are signals from suppressed parts of yourself.
Sometimes they are so strongly suppressed that you don’t recognize that you also have a part in you that has the same traits as that “irritating” other person.
A perfect way to do this is to make a SoulCollage® card about that part. In this way, you will discover more about that part in yourself that is patently unbalanced.
This and, of course, much more helps develop your awareness.
The definition of consciousness is as follows: subjective reflection on impressions from the outside world (knowing what you see, hear or feel and being able to tell about it) or on one’s own psychic processes (knowing what is going on inside you and being able to tell about it).
“In the end, we know deep down that the other side of fear is freedom” – Marilyn Ferguson
So awareness is about transcending your own stories and thoughts and contemplating from a helicopter view without judgment. From awareness you can make choices that are necessary, you are much less likely to lose your center.
Overcoming fear is about your awareness. The more awareness you have, the less you are guided by fears. They then have little to no grip on you and you can view the world from a completely different point of view.
